As you would have read/heard, the membership fees have remained the same but, the club has agreed that ALL members must attend - and WORK - a minimum of TWO (2) working bees for the year. The whole idea of joining a club is to meet other like-minded individuals and what better way than at a working bee! With extra hands helping, working bees aren't the drag that most will imagine and let’s face it - many hands make light work - we all have some skill that we can donate! The bottom line is that it is continually the same people ALL the time @ the working bees and all that is asked for is a commitment from you AS A CLUB MEMBER to donate this skill and time on only TWO occasions through the year. Given that, we are hosting some top-flight events this year; we will need all the help we can get to assist YOUR club to run as professionally as possible.

Club members on the gas

Whilst most of us were contemplating Christmas and the New Year, one of our members was off racing in the USA! Steven McGuire aquitted himself and the club well. Steve competed at the Glen Helen Raceway in the annual Vets championships, bringing home the bacon in the over 35's.

Congrats from the club Steve!

Just a reminder, if you have competed somewhere, let us know how you fared.

Time to clean out that shed/garage!

Are you aware that we have a section on the webpage and newsletter to advertise bikes/gear etc? No? Yep, true enough but the sad thing is it's under utilised. Surely, with a membership as large as ours, someone has some good second hand widgets/left handed grommets just sitting in the shed that they no longer need. Dust 'em off, advertise them and help out a fellow club member (and maybe make a dollar or three in the process).

Track news

The club has purchased a tractor to assist track preparation and general maintenance. We are currently looking for a ripper type attachment so we can get the soil toiled and in tip top shape. You can see the difference to the parts of the track that have been ripped and mulched and the mulch makes it so much easier on race days, not needing anywhere near the watering to keep the surface in good shape.

Trail riding.

Anyone interested in some trail riding? Not everyone wants or needs the racing experience, so is anyone up for some trail riding? The Melton Club has always had a strong trail riding following  - so who's keen? Any ideas for places to ride? All you need is a sense of humour and a rego'd bike!

Life member

At the AGM, Life Membership was bestowed upon Pat Heeney for his tireless work for the club over many years. It was my pleasure to present Pat with his plaque and acknowledge our appreciation of his efforts.

Clubman of the Year

Another award handed out at the AGM was the CotY. No-one was more deserving of the award this year than Darren Latta. The guy works like a diesel tractor, never stopping! Thanks for the effort Darren, the club is most appreciative.

Stepping up & helping out

As all are aware, David Salt has been our long suffering Treasurer who is looking to break away from the job and hand the reigns over to someone else. I can attest that Dave is as worn out as an old Honda airfilter and needs the change! Not really, but he has done a great job for the club and it's time to hand over the reigns - full training will be offered to the lucky person to step up. With the size of the membership, surely their is someone amongst us that can help out? Please see one of your committee if you have any questions!

          Thank you
